Climbing Paradise in Adriatic sea: Croatia

Croatia - Europe

Kroatien, Split - Croatia
20.05 - 28.05.2023
Hardly any Mediterranean area is as diverse as the 1800 kilometres of coastline of the Croatian mainland, to which must be added the approximately 4000 kilometres of coastline of its more than a thousand islands. Climbing in Croatia is often equated with a stay in the Paklenica National Park. Far from it: there are around fifty other climbing areas in this beautiful country.
We will combine climbing with swimming and visiting places of cultural interest. And of course we will visit the pearls of the climbing areas of Croatia and the Istrian peninsula.

Your advantages at a glance:

- Organised trip from Sargans by bus from the Mountain Sports School
- Visit the most beautiful climbing areas in Istria and Croatia
- 7 climbing days at or above the sea
- Visit to culturally interesting towns and villages

Program

Climbing trip through Croatia: Istrian peninsula (Rovinj, Limski Kanal, Dvigrad), Paklenica National Park, Split (Marjan, Omiš, Brela) and the island of Hvar.

With our climbing trip to Croatia we visit one of the most beautiful regions on the Mediterranean. Istria and Dalmatia are not only extremely exciting and interesting to visit from a historical and cultural point of view, but also for climbers everything is available for an unforgettable holiday. The climbing gardens with single and multi-pitch routes are numerous, the routes are modern and equipped with solid pitons and the nature and unique landscape will inspire us.

Saturday: Meeting point at 09.42 at Bellinzona railway station. We will travel together via Italy and Slovenia to Rovinj in Istria, where we will enjoy our first nights in Croatia at Casa Garzotto in the heart of the old town.

Sunday: Visit to the climbing garden on the Muntrav peninsula. After climbing we visit the beautiful town of Rovinj.

Monday: Visit to the climbing gardens on the Limski Canal. In the late afternoon drive to Paklenica. Overnight stay in the beautiful country house Varoš.

Tuesday and Wednesday: Climbing in the famous Paklenica gorge on single and multi-pitch routes. One or two pitches may remind us of the Winnetou films by Karl May!

Thursday: After a visit to the old town of Šibenik, we continue to Split and pay a visit to the beautiful climbing garden Marjan on the outskirts of the town. In the evening, the ferry takes us to the island of Hvar, where we check into our hotel near Hvar Town.

Friday: Today we are spoilt for choice and choose one of the many beautiful climbing gardens according to our mood. Dinner in the beautiful town of Hvar.

Saturday: A last visit to one of the beautiful climbing gardens on the island of Hvar concludes our climbing trip across Croatia. Travel by ferry back to Split and finish the week in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Split with Diocletian's Palace.

Sunday: Return journey from Split to Bellinzona, where we arrive at around 4pm. Individual return journey from Bellinzona.

Apart from visiting the most rewarding climbing areas, we do not completely forget about training. During the week we will cover various topics such as abseiling, belaying, setting up belay stations, improving individual climbing technique, etc. After climbing, we have the opportunity to visit the most beautiful towns and cultural monuments, some of which are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, or to relax by swimming.
