- shared outward and return journey from Bellinzona with the bus of the mountain sports school

Program

Finale Ligure, the name sounds final: arrived at the destination, at the peak, now there is no further to go. In fact, Finale is considered one of the best climbing areas in Europe, if not the whole world. Rightly so, in my opinion: There are endless rock massifs scattered in the beautiful hills around the town of Finale Ligure. Each massif is a natural monument in its own right, each massif offers wonderful and varied routes, each massif is an incredibly picturesque gem. And then the rock! Nowhere else in the world is it so full of holes, so grippy, so beautifully shaped. Finale also happens to be on the Ligurian coast. Directly on the sea, sandy beach, cafés under palm trees. God had to be a climber :-)

We can choose from the areas of Rocca di Perti, Monte Sordo, San Antonino, Monte Cucco, Rocca di Corno and the areas in Oltre Finale such as Val Varatella and Val Nimbalto among others.

Sunday: Meeting point at the railway station in Bellinzona at 13.45. We will travel together by bus from the Mountain Sports School to Finale Ligure and check into our accommodation. Dinner in Finale or Finalborgo.

Monday to Saturday: Together we will determine our climbing area for the day and the programme. The areas Rocca di Perti, Monte Sordo, San Antonino, Monte Cucco, Rocca di Corno, Val Varatella and Val Nimbalto with their various climbing gardens are all worth one or more visits. The approach is always from Finale Ligure with the bus of the mountain sports school. The climbs are versatile and varied. Climbing gardens with sport climbing routes alternate with multi-pitch routes. Depending on the climbing area, a short or even shorter approach leads us through a wild and intact natural landscape to our dream rocks. After climbing, we refresh ourselves by swimming in the sea and/or enjoy a gelati and a fine espresso in the bars of Finale Ligure. In the evening we visit the restaurants in Finalborgo or in Finale Ligure.

Sunday: After breakfast we return to Bellinzona via Milano. Closing of the climbing week and individual journey home.

In addition to visiting the most rewarding climbing areas, we do not completely forget the training. During the week we will cover various topics such as abseiling, belaying, setting up belay stations, improving individual climbing technique, etc. Besides climbing, we have the opportunity to discover the bays of the Riviera and the medieval towns of Finalborgo and Castelbianco or to relax by swimming.
